Welcome back for 2020!
Welcome one, welcome all! Imperial College Robotics Society is a student-led university club aiming to increase robotics interest at Imperial College London and across the UK. We run workshops, competitions and lectures to teach about robotics, electronics and software as well as providing help (financial and technical) to students looking to start a robotics project.
Robotics 101
We run robotics 101 , our flagship open source introductory robotics course, throughout the academic year.
Facilities for Makers
We have a soldering station, laser cutter and 3D printers for our members to build whatever they want.
Currently, we do not have approval for members to access EEE 505 where our lab is at.
If you still have items stored in the lab, message us on Slack (icrobotics.slack.com) and we’ll try to arrange a way for you to collect it.
Members are currently not permitted to access the lab; therefore, you cannot use the 3D printer and laser cutter right now.
Pending approval, we are working on providing a 3D printing service to allow members to send us files they want printed. If this proves successful, we may expand this to incorporate laser cutting.
We are active on our Slack (icrobotics.slack.com) if you have any questions or would just like to have a chat. We will also be live on Teams every Wednesday for “Q&A and Chill” if you want to talk to us.
In addition, we are running a range of virtual events, which you are encouraged to join!
We recommend obtaining an Arduino kit or Raspberry Pi to play with from home. Here are some links to get you started:
If you are working on some cool project from home and need some help, do join us every Wednesday from 1300-1400hrs BST on Teams for our Q&A and Chill sessions.
We are also planning to run a remote version of our Robotics 101, a course targeted towards complete beginners to robotics, in the Spring Term so do look out for that!
Despite not being able to grant access to the lab in EEE505, ICRS still services and maintains equipment such as 3D printers and laser cutters. Your contribution is invaluable in helping us ensure that the lab is kept in good condition and is ready to open as soon as we are given the green lights!
In addition, ICRS uses some of the money to run regular competitions with prizes for our members. Please do follow us on our social media channels or mailing list to be informed of when they occur.
You can find the full list of events for Autumn term in this helpful infographic on our Socials page.
We will also advertise each event on Slack, Facebook, and our mailing list, where we will share details on how to access each event through Teams.
We are exploring participation in competitions such as Eurobots, subjected to approval from the Union.
In the meanwhile, ICRS will be hosting ad-hoc competitions that you can participate from home. Please do follow us on our social media channels or mailing list to be informed of when they occur.
If you have an exciting idea for what events ICRS can organise (virtually!) for members like yourself, feel free to ping us on Slack (@committee), message us on Facebook, or email us at contact@icrs.io
